Description
The 24V Digital EGT Pyrometer Gauge Kit provides real-time exhaust gas temperature monitoring for trucks, machinery, marine applications and other 24V systems. Supplied with a K-type thermocouple rated from 0–1000°C, the kit offers fast temperature response, maximum-temperature recall and a programmable alarm output.
Multiple probe mounting options and cable lengths are available to suit different exhaust, turbo and installation configurations.
24V Digital Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) / Pyrometer Kit
Exhaust gas temperature monitoring is useful in turbocharged and high-load applications where engine operating conditions can cause exhaust temperatures to rise significantly.
The digital gauge provides a clear temperature display and can be configured with a high- or low-temperature alarm. A built-in relay output can also be used to trigger a compatible external buzzer, warning device or control circuit.

Probe Location
Probe location should be selected to suit the vehicle, exhaust system and the temperature information being monitored.
Where an existing threaded EGT port is available, this is generally the simplest mounting location. Otherwise, the probe can be fitted using the appropriate threaded, weld-in or clamp-on adaptor.
Pre-turbo and post-turbo probe locations can produce different temperature readings, so readings should always be interpreted according to the probe position used on the vehicle.
If a new mounting point is required, install the probe in a location that provides reliable exhaust-gas exposure while remaining practical for installation and service.
Clamp-On Probe Installation
Clamp-on mounting provides an option where welding or an existing threaded port is not available.
The supplied information specifies drilling approximately a 3/16" hole for the probe before securing the clamp around the exhaust.
Gauge Mounting
The kit includes a black aluminium enclosure measuring approximately 65 × 35 × 100mm, allowing the gauge to be mounted on a dashboard, console or other suitable surface.
The controller can also be installed directly into a panel without the enclosure. The stated panel cut-out size is approximately:
- 22mm × 45mm
Integrated spring clips retain the gauge in the panel opening.
Thermocouple Lead Length
Three thermocouple cable lengths are available:
- 2.5m – suitable for many standard vehicle installations
- 4m – useful for longer cabin or overhead-console installations
- 10m – suited to larger machinery, boats and other extended installations
Do not cut the supplied thermocouple cable to shorten it. If excess cable remains, coil and secure it neatly.
The supplied product information also recommends against extending the thermocouple leads, as this may affect the temperature measurement.
High-Temperature Calibration
The supplied thermocouple is intended primarily for high-temperature exhaust-gas measurement.
The supplied information notes that the probe is calibrated for improved accuracy at temperatures above approximately 100°C and may not provide an accurate room-temperature reading.

Installation Notes
Install the probe and gauge so that wiring is protected from exhaust heat, sharp edges, moving components and moisture ingress.
Do not leave the gauge exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods.
Before setting an EGT alarm threshold, determine an appropriate temperature limit for the specific engine, turbo system and probe location. Suitable limits can vary significantly between engines and between pre-turbo and post-turbo installations.
