Pumping Accessories

A wide range of accessories to be used with Scintex pumps and pumping systems. All items can be plumbed using fittings and hose from our store. Couple flow meters to measure flow rates and total fuel flows. Fuel nozzles and guns as seen on fuel bowsers give control over diesel or unleaded petrol transfer, these can be manual or automatic shutoff and incorporate a digital flow gauge. Protecting your pump, particularly, vane and gear pumps is essential and a fuel suction inlet strainer should be used where possible to prevent tank rust or debris entering the pump.

A typical installation may require suction and discharge hose, strainers, check or foot valves, isolation valves, unions, hose tails, clamps, gauges, filters, pressure relief devices and suitable fittings. Electrical pumps may also require correctly sized cabling and protection. The exact components depend on the pump, fluid, lift, pressure and installation layout.
Suction hose must resist collapse under vacuum and be large enough to minimise restriction. Match the internal diameter, connection type, working temperature and fluid compatibility to the pump. Keep the suction line short and straight, seal every joint against air entry and use a strainer or foot valve where the application requires it.
Narrow hoses, small valves, restrictive filters and numerous elbows increase friction loss, reducing flow and sometimes causing cavitation. A fitting’s nominal thread size does not always reflect its internal bore. Size the entire system for the desired flow, particularly on the suction side, rather than matching accessories only to the pump port.
A check valve prevents reverse flow, while a foot valve at the suction inlet can help maintain prime. A pressure relief valve protects systems that may operate against a closed outlet or experience excessive pressure. Each valve must be installed in the correct direction and rated for the fluid, flow, pressure and temperature.
Regularly check hoses, clamps, fittings, valves, gauges and strainers for leaks, blockage, corrosion, cracking and secure attachment. Clean filters before they become restrictive, replace hardened seals and damaged hose, and verify that safety and relief devices operate correctly. Isolate power and relieve pressure before servicing any pressurised connection.
