Scintex is an Australian pump and filtration specialist supplying pumping solutions for domestic, agricultural, commercial and industrial applications. With in-house technical expertise and a broad product range, we can help match a pump to your fluid, flow, pressure, power supply and installation requirements.

Our range includes compact 12V and 24V DC pumps, 240V and three-phase electric pumps, engine-driven pumps, pneumatic diaphragm pumps, hand-operated drum pumps and tractor PTO pumps. These systems are suited to transferring water, diesel, unleaded petrol, oils, lubricants, biodiesel, chemicals, sewage, slurry and other compatible fluids.

12V and 24V pumps

Our low-voltage pump range is ideal for vehicles, mobile tanks, workshops, farms and remote applications where mains power is unavailable. Options include electric oil transfer pumps, submersible bore and well pumps, diesel transfer pumps, fuel pump kits, drum pumps, gear pumps and marine bilge pumps.

Selected diesel and petrol transfer systems are available as complete kits with hoses, nozzles, fittings, filters and inlet strainers. We also supply specialist pumps for automotive applications, including turbo and intercooler oil-scavenge systems.

240V electric pumps

The Scintex 240V range covers domestic, commercial and industrial pumping applications. Products include clean-water and dirty-water pumps, stainless steel submersible pumps, sewage and septic pumps, drainage pumps, slurry and sand pumps, puddle pumps, dewatering pumps and diesel or oil transfer pumps.

We also stock pressure booster systems, self-priming jet pumps, shallow-well pumps, magnetic-drive pumps, condensate pumps, machine-cooling pumps, chemical dosing pumps, metering pumps and electric gear pumps.

Hand-operated pumps

For simple, reliable fluid transfer without electricity or compressed air, we offer rotary hand pumps, drum pumps, chemical pumps, double-action piston pumps and drill-powered pumps. These are useful for transferring compatible fuels, oils, water and chemicals from drums, tanks and containers.

Pneumatic pumps

Our air-operated pump range includes polypropylene and aluminium diaphragm pumps for industrial fluid transfer. These pumps are well suited to chemicals, oils, wastewater, viscous liquids and fluids containing suspended solids, provided the pump materials are compatible with the application.

We also stock pneumatic lubricant pumps, mobile oil-transfer trolley kits and related accessories for workshop and industrial use.

Engine-driven pumps

Engine-driven pumps remain among the most popular products in the Scintex range. Options include water-transfer pumps, high-pressure firefighting pumps, trash pumps, sludge and sewage pumps, chemical-transfer pumps and flex-drive submersible pumps.

Models are available with petrol or diesel engines, including selected Honda, Yanmar and KAMA-powered configurations. These pumps are suited to irrigation, drainage, firefighting, construction, agriculture and remote water-transfer applications.

PTO and pulley-drive pumps

For tractor and machinery applications, we supply PTO-driven pumps for water transfer, irrigation, molasses, oils and other compatible liquids. Pulley-drive gear pumps are also available for transferring more viscous fluids and for integration into agricultural or industrial systems.

Three-phase pumps

Our three-phase pump range includes industrial gear pumps, submersible pumps and chemical dosing or metering pumps. These units are designed for higher-duty commercial and industrial applications where three-phase power is available.

Choosing the right pump

Pump selection depends on more than connection size or maximum flow. Important considerations include:

  • the liquid being transferred
  • required flow rate and pressure
  • total head and suction lift
  • fluid viscosity and temperature
  • solids content
  • chemical compatibility
  • power source
  • duty cycle
  • hose and pipe restrictions

Start with the liquid being moved, required flow, total head, suction conditions, power source and expected duty cycle. Then consider solids size, viscosity, temperature and chemical compatibility. Different pump designs suit clean water, sewage, chemicals, fuel, slurry and high-pressure work, so select by the full application rather than port size alone.
Total head is the resistance the pump must overcome, including vertical lift and friction losses through hose, pipe, valves and fittings. A pump’s maximum head occurs at little or no flow, so it does not indicate normal delivery. Use the pump curve to confirm the expected flow at the actual system head.
A self-priming surface pump can evacuate some air from its suction line once the casing is correctly primed, but still has limits on suction lift and air leakage. A submersible pump operates in the liquid and pushes it upward, which avoids suction-lift problems. Each type has different electrical, cooling and installation requirements.
Many pumps rely on the pumped liquid to cool and lubricate seals, impellers or internal components. Dry running can quickly overheat and damage these parts, even if the motor continues operating. Use suitable dry-run protection where available and stop the pump immediately if flow is lost or the suction source empties.
Keep strainers and inlets clean, inspect hoses, seals and fittings for leaks and check oil, bearings and electrical connections as applicable. Prevent freezing, flush corrosive or dirty fluids after use and operate within the rated flow, pressure and duty cycle. Investigate unusual noise, vibration, heat or declining performance before a major failure occurs.
