Description

Polypropylene felt filter bags provide an economical, high-capacity solution for filtering diesel, petrol, oils, biodiesel, water and a range of compatible liquids. Available in four standard bag sizes and micron ratings from 1 to 100 micron, these filter bags are ideal for both gravity filtration and use in compatible filter housings.

Simply select the required bag size and micron rating from the options above. Filter bags are supplied in packs of 10.

Polypropylene Felt Liquid Filter Bags

Filter bags offer a simple and economical method of bulk liquid filtration. Their large surface area and dirt-holding capacity make them particularly useful where significant quantities of contamination need to be removed without frequently replacing smaller filter cartridges or elements.

These polypropylene felt filter bags are available in four standard sizes and a broad range of nominal micron ratings, allowing the filtration level and bag capacity to be matched to your application.

Polypropylene Filter Bag Features

  • Available in 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 micron ratings
  • Four standard filter bag sizes available
  • Supplied in packs of 10
  • 100% polypropylene felt filter media
  • Galvanised steel top ring
  • Nominal micron ratings
  • High dirt-holding capacity
  • Suitable for use in compatible filter bag housings
  • Can also be used for gravity filtration applications
  • Economical solution for bulk liquid filtration

Suitable Filtration Applications

Polypropylene felt provides good compatibility with a wide variety of liquids, making these bags useful across industrial, agricultural, fuel processing and general liquid filtration applications.

Typical applications include filtering:

  • Diesel fuel
  • Unleaded petrol
  • Biodiesel
  • Vegetable oils
  • SVO, WVO and UVO
  • Lubricating and other compatible oils
  • Water
  • Compatible solvents and process liquids

Always confirm the chemical compatibility of the polypropylene filter media and galvanised steel ring with the liquid being filtered before use.

High-Capacity Liquid Filtration

One of the key advantages of bag filtration is the large filtration area available compared with many conventional cartridge-style filters. This allows the bags to capture substantial quantities of contamination before replacement is required, depending on the liquid and contamination load.

This makes filter bags particularly useful for bulk filtration applications where large volumes of diesel, oil, water or other compatible liquids need to be processed economically.

Gravity or Filter Housing Operation

These filter bags are designed for use with compatible filter bag housings, where the liquid is pumped through the bag and suspended contaminants are captured by the polypropylene felt media.

For suitable applications, the bags can also be used independently for simple gravity filtration. This can provide a practical solution when transferring liquids between drums, tanks or other containers where pressurised filtration is not required.

For pressurised filtration applications, see our range of filter housings.

Available Filter Bag Sizes & Flow Rates

Bag Type Size Bag Area (sq. ft) Max. Flow Rate (L/hr)
01 7" x 17" 2.6 20,000
02 7" x 32" 5.0 40,000
03 4" x 8" 0.8 6,000
04 4" x 14" 1.5 12,000

Flow Rate Note: Maximum flow figures are based on water service at 25°C with approximately 1 PSI pressure drop using nominal filter bags. Actual flow rates will vary depending on fluid viscosity, micron rating, contamination loading and the filtration system configuration.

Selecting a Micron Rating

The micron rating determines the nominal particle size the filter bag is designed to capture. Lower micron ratings provide finer filtration, while higher micron ratings are useful for removing larger particles or as an initial filtration stage.

Available nominal ratings are:

  • 1 micron
  • 5 micron
  • 10 micron
  • 25 micron
  • 50 micron
  • 100 micron

For heavily contaminated liquids, staged filtration can be useful, beginning with a coarser filter bag before progressing to a finer micron rating.
