Sealed Air Compressor Pressure Switches – 1/4" NPT
Description
Sealed Air Compressor Pressure Switches
These compact sealed pressure switches provide automatic pressure control for compatible air compressors, onboard air systems and compressed-air tanks.
Available with a range of preset cut-in and cut-out pressures from 60/90psi through to 165/200psi, they are ideal for automatically controlling a compressor through a suitable relay.
Sealed Pressure Switches for Air Compressors & Air Tanks
A pressure switch monitors system pressure and automatically changes its electrical contact state when predetermined pressure levels are reached. This makes it ideal for maintaining pressure in an onboard air tank without manually switching the compressor on and off.
These switches feature preset cut-in and cut-out pressures and a 1/4" NPT connection, making them suitable for a range of compatible Scintex and Sherpa air compressor systems.
Key Features
- Automatic compressor pressure control
- Preset cut-in and cut-out pressure settings
- Options from 60/90psi to 165/200psi
- Sealed pressure switch design
- 1/4" NPT connection
- Ideal for onboard air systems
- Suitable for compatible air compressor tanks
- Simple automatic pressure control
- Recommended for use with a suitable electrical relay
How the Pressure Switch Works
Each switch has two preset pressure points:
- Cut-in pressure: The lower pressure at which the switch activates the compressor control circuit.
- Cut-out pressure: The upper pressure at which the switch deactivates the compressor control circuit.
For example, an 85/105psi pressure switch is designed to activate the compressor control circuit when tank pressure falls to approximately 85psi. The compressor then builds pressure until approximately 105psi is reached, at which point the pressure switch deactivates the control circuit.
As compressed air is used and tank pressure falls back to the cut-in point, the process repeats automatically.
Pressure Switch Options
Pressure ratings are shown as Cut-In / Cut-Out.
| Cut-In Pressure | Cut-Out Pressure | Connection |
|---|---|---|
| 60psi | 90psi | 1/4" NPT |
| 85psi | 105psi | 1/4" NPT |
| 90psi | 120psi | 1/4" NPT |
| 110psi | 145psi | 1/4" NPT |
| 165psi | 200psi | 1/4" NPT |
Use with an Electrical Relay
We recommend using the pressure switch to control a suitably rated relay rather than switching the compressor motor load directly.
The pressure switch can activate the low-current relay control circuit, while the relay handles the higher electrical current required by the compressor. This arrangement helps protect the pressure switch contacts and is particularly important with high-current 12V and 24V air compressors.
The relay, wiring, fuse or circuit breaker and other electrical components should all be appropriately rated for the compressor and electrical system.
Ideal for Onboard Air Systems
These pressure switches are well suited to applications where an air tank needs to be maintained automatically within a preset pressure range.
Typical applications include:
- 4WD onboard air systems
- Air compressor tanks
- Vehicle-mounted air systems
- Air horns
- Tyre inflation systems
- Workshop and mobile compressed-air systems
- Compatible pneumatic equipment
Compatible Air Tanks
The 1/4" NPT connection is compatible with suitable Scintex air compressor tanks and other systems using the same thread specification.

Selecting the Correct Pressure Switch
Select a pressure switch with cut-in and cut-out settings appropriate for the compressor, air tank and connected equipment.
Do not select a pressure switch with a cut-out pressure higher than the maximum allowable pressure of the compressor, tank, hoses, fittings or other components in the system. The complete compressed-air system must be rated for the selected operating pressure.
