5kW Continuous / 6.5kW Maximum Output
The generator is rated to provide 5kW continuous output, with a stated maximum output of 6.5kW.
Electrical loads should be selected and managed according to the generator's continuous output, while also allowing for the starting or surge requirements of connected equipment.
Motors, compressors, pumps, refrigeration equipment and some power tools can require substantially more power during startup than during normal operation. Check the starting and running requirements of equipment before connecting it to the generator.
PMG + Inverter Generator Technology
The SDIGS5KW combines a permanent magnet generator (PMG) with an inverter system to produce its 240V AC output.
This provides controlled single-phase sine-wave power for a broad range of compatible equipment.
Where particularly power-sensitive equipment is to be connected, check the equipment manufacturer's power-supply requirements against the generator specifications before use.
418cc Direct-Injection Diesel Engine
Power is supplied by a 418cc 186FAE air-cooled diesel engine with direct injection.
The 4-stroke engine is rated at a stated 10HP at 3,000 RPM and incorporates electric starting for convenient operation.
Electric Start
The generator incorporates an electric start system with starting battery included, eliminating the need for manual pull starting during normal operation.
As with any battery-start generator, the starting battery should be maintained when the generator is stored for extended periods so it remains ready for use when required.
8L Diesel Fuel Tank
An integrated 8L fuel tank provides a stated runtime of up to approximately 4 hours at the full 5kW load.
Actual runtime will vary according to electrical load, operating conditions, engine condition and other factors.
240V AC & 12V DC Outputs
The generator provides:
- 2 × 15A 240V single-phase AC outlets
- 12V / 8.3A DC output
The available generator output is shared across connected loads and remains subject to the generator's overall continuous and maximum output ratings.
Integrated Monitoring & Protection
The control panel incorporates useful monitoring and protection features including:
- Fuel gauge
- Voltmeter
- Frequency meter
- Run-hour meter
- AC circuit breaker
- Low-oil alert
- Engine controls
The run-hour meter is particularly useful for tracking generator usage and planning routine servicing.
Enclosed Mobile Design
The diesel engine and generator are housed within a protective enclosure designed to reduce operating noise compared with an equivalent open-frame configuration.
Integrated castor wheels and a handle assist with positioning the approximately 150kg generator around suitable firm and level surfaces.
Noise Levels
Supplied noise figures are approximately:
- 85dB at 2m
- 77dB at 7m
Actual perceived noise can vary with generator load, surroundings, nearby structures and measurement conditions. Suitable hearing protection should be used where required.
Typical Applications
- Construction and trade sites
- Farm and agricultural use
- Workshops and sheds
- Remote worksites
- Property maintenance
- Off-grid applications
- Equipment and tool power
- Emergency and backup power

Generator Manual

Initial Setup & Engine Oil
The engine is shipped with only sufficient oil for storage and transport protection and must be correctly filled before operation.
Check and fill the engine oil as part of initial setup before attempting to start the generator. SAE 10W-30 may be suitable for many Australian operating conditions; however, always refer to the engine manual and select the correct oil for the expected ambient temperature.
Generator Safety & Installation
Never operate the generator inside a building, shed, garage, enclosed trailer or other enclosed or poorly ventilated area. Diesel engines produce carbon monoxide and other exhaust gases that can cause serious injury or death.
Position the generator outdoors in a suitably ventilated location away from doors, windows and air intakes, and protect it from operating conditions outside those specified by the manufacturer.
Where the generator is being used for building backup power or connected to fixed electrical wiring, installation must be completed using appropriate changeover equipment and by a suitably licensed electrician in accordance with applicable requirements.
Do not connect the generator directly into building wiring through a power outlet. Check the generator manual and the electrical requirements of connected equipment before operation.
Air-Cooled Diesel Generator
This model uses an air-cooled diesel engine and is well suited to portable, temporary, worksite and backup-power applications.
Follow the manufacturer's service schedule and maintain adequate airflow around the generator during operation. Service requirements will depend on operating hours and conditions, so refer to the supplied manual rather than relying on a generic service interval.
