Description
The Gravity Feed Automatic Diesel Nozzle provides automatic shut-off dispensing for compatible gravity-fed fuel systems where a conventional automatic nozzle may not operate reliably. Designed for diesel and kerosene, the nozzle operates from a minimum stated inlet pressure of 0.4 bar / 40kPa and delivers approximately 8–50 L/min.
Ideal for suitable overhead and elevated fuel tanks, the nozzle can also be used with compatible pumped systems operating within its specified pressure range.
Gravity Feed Automatic Diesel Fuel Nozzle
Conventional automatic fuel nozzles generally rely on pressure and flow from a pump for their automatic shut-off mechanism to operate correctly. This nozzle is specifically designed to operate at lower inlet pressures, making it suitable for appropriately configured gravity-fed diesel and kerosene systems.
A minimum pressure of 0.4 bar / 40kPa must be available at the nozzle for correct operation. If your gravity system cannot reliably maintain this pressure, a manual dispensing nozzle should be used instead.

Automatic Shut-Off for Gravity Fuel Tanks
The automatic shut-off mechanism is designed to operate at lower system pressures than conventional pumped-fuel nozzles.
When the receiving tank reaches the nozzle's sensing point, the automatic mechanism is designed to stop fuel flow and help prevent overfilling.
The operator should remain with the nozzle and monitor dispensing at all times. Automatic shut-off is a dispensing aid and should not be relied upon as a substitute for supervision.
Minimum 40kPa Inlet Pressure
Correct operation requires at least 0.4 bar / 40kPa pressure at the nozzle.
For a gravity-fed diesel installation, the supplied specification indicates approximately 5m of tank elevation may be required to generate this pressure.
This should be treated as a guide only. The actual pressure available at the nozzle depends on factors including:
- Vertical height between the fuel level and nozzle
- Fuel level within the supply tank
- Hose and pipe diameter
- Hose and pipe length
- Filters
- Valves
- Fittings and bends
- Required flow rate
Pressure at the nozzle can decrease as the supply tank empties, so the system should be designed to maintain the required minimum pressure throughout its intended operating range.
8–50 L/min Flow Range
The nozzle has a stated flow range of approximately 8–50 L/min.
Actual flow from a gravity-fed installation will depend heavily on available head pressure and restrictions within the fuel system. A system producing sufficient pressure to activate the automatic shut-off mechanism will not necessarily achieve the maximum 50 L/min flow rate.
Diesel & Kerosene Compatible
The nozzle is specified for use with diesel and kerosene.
Do not assume compatibility with petrol, aviation fuel, AdBlue, chemicals or other liquids unless suitability of the nozzle and all wetted components has been confirmed for that fluid.

Is Your Gravity Tank Suitable?
Before selecting this automatic nozzle, confirm that the installation can maintain at least 40kPa / 0.4 bar pressure at the nozzle.
Tank height alone does not determine suitability. Available pressure will vary with the fuel level and pressure losses through the complete dispensing system.
If sufficient pressure cannot be maintained, select a manual fuel nozzle.
Installation & Operation
Ensure all hoses, valves, filters, fittings and other dispensing components are compatible with the transferred fuel and suitable for the system pressure.
Keep the nozzle attended during dispensing and do not use the trigger lock as a means of leaving the fuel transfer unattended.
Periodically inspect the nozzle, spout, seals and connections for damage, leakage or excessive wear and remove damaged equipment from service.
