15m Static Grounding Reel – Slow Retract with Locking Cable
Description
The 15m Static Grounding Reel provides a convenient retractable grounding connection for equipment used in fuel transfer, chemical handling and other applications where static electricity needs to be controlled.
Designed for demanding industrial environments, the reel combines a heavy-duty steel housing with a 15m zinc-plated steel grounding cable, high-visibility orange TPU cover, controlled slow retraction and a ratchet locking mechanism.
The compact reel can be permanently mounted in a convenient location, allowing the grounding cable to be extended as required and neatly retracted after use.
15m Static Grounding Reel with Controlled Slow Retract
This heavy-duty static grounding reel provides a practical way to deploy and store a grounding cable around fuel transfer equipment, tankers, storage tanks, drums and industrial equipment.
The 15m cable provides generous reach while the ratchet mechanism allows the cable to be extended and held at the required length. Controlled slow retraction helps reduce uncontrolled cable return when the cable is released.
Key Features
- 15m grounding cable reach
- Heavy-duty steel reel construction
- Compact design for permanent mounting
- Controlled slow cable retraction
- Ratchet locking mechanism
- Cable can be stopped at the required extension
- Zinc-plated steel grounding cable
- High-visibility orange TPU cable cover
- Automatic release function during over-extension
- 4mm cable diameter
- Maximum stated operating temperature of 52°C
- Grounding clamp options available
- RoHS and REACH compliant
Controlled Cable Extension & Retraction
The ratchet locking mechanism allows the operator to extend the cable to the required length and hold it in position during use.
When released, the controlled slow-retraction mechanism returns the cable to the reel in a more controlled manner, helping reduce rapid cable snap-back and keeping excess cable neatly stored when not in use.
The high-visibility orange TPU outer cover also makes the cable easier to identify around vehicles, tanks, drums and other equipment.
Grounding & Bonding Applications
The reel is designed to provide a convenient grounding connection for compatible equipment where static electricity needs to be controlled.
Depending on the design of the installation, grounding and bonding can be used to help dissipate accumulated static charge and reduce electrical potential differences between conductive equipment.
Typical applications include:
- Fuel transfer and refuelling operations
- Fuel tankers and service vehicles
- Drum and container decanting
- Bulk storage tanks
- Chemical handling
- Compatible flammable liquid transfer systems
- Industrial process equipment
- Workshops and industrial facilities
- Static-sensitive material handling

Grounding Clamp Options
Standard jaw clip and grounding clamp options are available, allowing the reel to be configured to suit different equipment and grounding connection requirements.
For effective grounding, the clamp must make reliable electrical contact with a suitable conductive connection point. Dirt, paint, corrosion and other insulating materials can prevent an effective electrical connection.
Important Installation Information
The grounding reel should be incorporated into an appropriately designed grounding or bonding system for the intended application. Installation requirements will vary depending on the equipment, transferred material and work environment.
Where the reel is used around flammable liquids, vapours or hazardous areas, ensure the complete installation and operating procedure complies with the applicable workplace requirements and relevant standards.
RoHS and REACH compliance should not be interpreted as hazardous-area or explosion-protection certification.
