Description
The Water Tank Float Switch provides automatic water-level control for tanks, reservoirs and compatible pumping systems. The switch changes state as the water level rises or falls, allowing it to be incorporated into a pump control system for automatic filling or level management.
Featuring a long 9.5m cable and adjustable cable weight, the float can be positioned to provide the required switching level and operating range within the tank.

For a typical tank-filling application, the system can be configured to stop the pump when the tank reaches the required high level and restart as the water level falls.

Automatic Tank Level Control
As the water level changes, the suspended float rises or falls and changes the state of its internal switch.
This allows the float to provide an automatic level signal for controlling compatible pumping equipment.
A common application is filling a remote water tank, where the float switch can be incorporated into the control system to stop pumping when the tank reaches the desired level and allow pumping to restart after the level falls.
Adjustable Switching Level
The included cable weight acts as the pivot point for the float. Adjusting the position of the weight and the free cable length allows the switching behaviour to be configured for the tank and application.
This makes the float suitable for a range of water storage tanks and reservoirs where automatic high-level control is required.
9.5m Cable
A generous 9.5m lead provides flexibility when installing the float in larger tanks or where the electrical connection or control equipment is located away from the switching point.
Solar & 240V Pumping Systems
The float switch can be incorporated into compatible solar, DC or 240V water pumping systems, provided the electrical switching arrangement is suitable for the particular pump and controller.
For many installations, particularly pumps with higher motor starting currents, the float switch should operate a suitably rated relay, contactor or pump controller rather than switching the pump motor directly.

Installation Considerations
Position the float so it can move freely with the changing water level without becoming obstructed by the tank wall, pipework, pump, ladder or other equipment.
The electrical control arrangement must be appropriate for the pump, supply voltage and application. Pump motors can draw substantially more current during startup than their normal running current, so the stated 15A switch rating should not automatically be treated as a 15A motor rating.
For 240V installations, electrical connection should be completed in accordance with applicable electrical requirements. Where required, use a suitably rated relay, contactor or pump controller between the float switch and pump.
