The SSFS80A is capable of very consistent application rates when it is calibrated for the specific product being used. Fertilisers vary considerably in granule size, density and moisture content, so recalibration whenever products change is essential. Travelling speed, PTO or wheel speed and hopper fill level can also influence spread patterns. A simple calibration test before large jobs helps minimise waste and ensures even nutrient distribution.
Yes, but the spreader should be recalibrated each time you switch products. Fine pasture seed, coated seed and granular fertiliser all flow differently through the hopper and spreading mechanism. Thoroughly clean the hopper between products to prevent contamination and corrosion, particularly after using fertiliser.
An uneven spread pattern is commonly caused by worn vanes, incorrect disc speed, blocked outlets or an incorrectly adjusted feed gate. Damaged fertiliser granules and strong crosswinds can also affect distribution. Checking the spreading disc and carrying out a tray test will usually identify the cause.
Fertiliser is highly corrosive, especially when moisture is present. Stainless steel components resist rust far better than painted mild steel, reducing maintenance and extending service life. Even stainless spreaders should be washed after use to remove fertiliser residue.
Wash the machine after every use, grease bearings, inspect the gearbox oil, keep fasteners tight and store the spreader undercover. Replacing worn vanes, bearings and agitators before they fail helps maintain spreading accuracy and avoids costly repairs.

Highly recommended .We have a few of these as we are a oil manufacturer . These pumps are very good and reliable. I have had nuts , bolts and rocks go through them and they keep on working as the viens and gears are all steel . No plastic that can shatter .Only had to replace a mechanical seal on them once which I was able to get from Scintex . Takes about 7 minutes to transfer 200 liters of gear oil through a 25 mm hose .
