Sherpa 4x4 - Winches & Accessories

Sherpa Winches, Air Compressors and 4WD Accessories

Built for the serious offroad enthusiast, Sherpa 4x4 winches deliver dependable performance when it matters most. Designed to handle everything from recreational 4WD use through to competition and heavy-duty applications, the range covers multiple load capacities to suit different setups.

A standout in the lineup is the 17,000lb winch—well suited to touring vehicles and towing caravans, making it a popular choice for long-distance travel across Australia. The 12,000lb and 17,000lb models are compatible with most common winch bars such as ARB, TJM, ECB and is a great option for Toyota Landcruiser, Nissan Patrol, Ford Ranger and more. For larger vehicles and commercial applications, high-output options are available, including a powerful 9HP 25,000lb for heavy vehicle recovery. A good option for larger US trucks such as your Dodge RAM and Ford Raptor.

For commercial towing and tow trucks Sherpa builds a 20,000lb tow truck winch available in steel cable or synthetic rope. Built with advanced braking systems for the safety required in the towing industry.

The Sherpa 4,500lb ATV winch is popular for farmers and acreage owners running quad bikes, ATV’s and side by side vehicles.

Sherpa also manufacturers a high end boat trailer winch. Made especially for marine environments with models suitable for a full range of boats up to 9,000kg in weight.

Sherpa has applied it’s long design history in winching and 4x4 recovery to air compressors, manufacturing arguably the best 4WD air compressors on the market. Multiple options are available with some impressive flow rates up to 400LPM. A full range of air accessories including air tanks, fittings and hoses to suit are also in stock to order.

A winch is only as effective as the recovery gear used with it. Tree trunk protectors, rated shackles, recovery dampers, snatch blocks, recovery rings and extension straps all improve safety and versatility. Carrying the right accessories allows safer anchor points, changes the pulling direction when required and can even double pulling capacity in difficult recoveries.
A snatch block or modern recovery ring lets you redirect the winch cable or create a double-line pull. This reduces the load on the winch and can dramatically increase pulling power when recovering heavily bogged vehicles or climbing steep terrain.
Synthetic rope is lighter, safer if it breaks and easier to handle, making it popular with recreational four-wheel drivers. Steel cable remains highly abrasion resistant and is often preferred where sharp rocks or industrial conditions are common.
Most experienced off-roaders recommend selecting a winch rated at around 1.5 times your vehicle's gross weight. This provides sufficient reserve capacity for deep mud, steep climbs and difficult recoveries without overloading the winch.
Wash mud and salt from ropes, straps and shackles after every trip, inspect for cuts or corrosion before use and replace any recovery equipment showing signs of damage rather than risking failure during a recovery.
