Stump Grinder Spares

Most carbide stump teeth have multiple cutting edges. Rotating them before they become badly worn spreads wear evenly across all edges, improves cutting efficiency and significantly extends tooth life. Waiting until a tooth is completely blunt often makes rotation impossible.
If teeth become loose, sit unevenly or no longer clamp securely, inspect the pockets. Worn pockets allow tooth movement that accelerates wear and can eventually damage the cutter wheel.
Vibration often occurs when only some teeth are replaced or when different tooth styles are mixed. Keeping the cutter wheel balanced by fitting matching teeth and tightening them correctly reduces vibration and bearing wear.
Bearings should be checked regularly for heat, noise and play, particularly on machines used commercially. Early replacement prevents expensive damage to the cutter wheel shaft.
Professional operators often keep spare teeth, pockets, bolts, bearings, drive belts and hydraulic hoses so common wear items can be replaced on-site.
