Trolltek™ Programmable Voltage Sensitive Relay – 8–32V, 150A
Description
The Trolltek™ Programmable Voltage Sensitive Relay (PVSR) provides configurable voltage-based switching for 12V and 24V electrical systems. Unlike a conventional VSR with fixed switching thresholds, the Trolltek™ PVSR allows the engage voltage, disengage voltage, switching delays and high-voltage protection threshold to be adjusted directly from the unit.
Rated for 150A continuous current with an LCD display, manual override and configurable switching logic, the PVSR is suited to auxiliary battery, charging and other compatible automotive and marine electrical systems.

User Programmable Switching
Switching parameters can be configured directly from the PVSR using the faceplate controls and LCD display. No external programming device is required.

Why Programmable Switching Matters
A conventional VSR typically uses fixed voltage thresholds to connect and disconnect electrical circuits. This can be suitable for many installations, but changing electrical loads and alternator output can cause battery voltage to move repeatedly across the switching thresholds.
In some installations, such as a DC-DC charger connected downstream of a VSR, this may cause the relay to repeatedly engage and disengage as system voltage rises and falls.
The Trolltek™ PVSR allows the engage and disengage voltages to be configured for the installation. Adjustable time delays can also prevent short-duration voltage changes from immediately triggering the relay, helping reduce unnecessary switching.
LCD Voltage & Current Monitoring
During operation, the LCD alternates between voltage and charging current information, allowing key electrical information to be viewed directly from the PVSR.
A power-saving function switches the LCD off when it is not required.
150A Continuous Rating
The PVSR is rated for loads up to 150A continuous and 250A intermittent.
Actual installation requirements, including cable size, circuit protection and switching capacity, must be selected to suit the connected equipment and expected current.
Manual Override
A push-button manual override can close the relay for approximately 60 seconds, providing temporary battery linking where appropriate for the electrical system.
The original product specification also describes this function for emergency battery linking. Any use involving high starting currents must remain within the PVSR, cabling and electrical system ratings.
Reverse-Current Protection
The PVSR incorporates a reverse-current protection function. The relay returns to an open state if current flow reverses or falls below approximately 3A.
Storage Mode
Storage Mode allows the PVSR to be manually switched off when the electrical system will be stored or unused for an extended period.
Marine-Oriented Construction
The PVSR uses fully potted electronics housed within an enclosure to improve protection in demanding installations.
The enclosure is stated as providing protection equivalent to IP65. Appropriate installation and additional environmental protection should still be provided where required.
Battery & Alternator Applications
The PVSR is designed for use with compatible battery and charging systems, including lithium battery installations. It may also be used in installations incorporating conventional, smart or Euro 6 alternators where the programmable switching characteristics are suitable for the system.
