Description

The 51 L/min On-Board Air Compressor is a heavy-duty 12V or 24V DC compressor designed for permanent installation in 4WDs, trucks, service vehicles and other mobile applications. With a maximum operating pressure of 200 PSI and a 100% duty cycle at 100 PSI, it is well suited to demanding onboard air systems where reliability and compact installation are important.

The oil-free design allows flexible mounting orientation, while the remote air inlet option makes the compressor particularly suitable for under-bonnet or concealed installations where dust, heat and water exposure need to be managed carefully.

Heavy-Duty Onboard Air for 4WDs & Trucks

These compressors are designed for users who want a permanently installed compressed-air source rather than carrying a separate portable compressor.

Typical installations include mounting the compressor under the bonnet, beneath a seat, behind an interior trim panel or elsewhere in the vehicle where space is limited.

The compressor can be wired to the vehicle battery through a suitable switch, relay and protection system, giving the operator access to compressed air whenever required.

4WD Tyre Inflation

One of the most common applications is tyre inflation after reducing tyre pressures for sand, beach, trail or off-road driving.

A permanently mounted compressor allows tyres to be reinflated before returning to sealed roads without needing to unpack and reconnect a portable compressor each time.

With air flow up to 51 L/min, the compressor provides a practical onboard solution for regular 4WD tyre inflation.

200 PSI Maximum Pressure

The compressor is capable of operating at pressures up to 200 PSI.

While tyre inflation normally requires much lower pressures, the higher pressure capability makes the compressor useful for applications such as:

100% Duty Cycle at 100 PSI

A major feature of this compressor is its ability to operate at a 100% duty cycle at 100 PSI.

This allows continuous operation at that pressure without requiring scheduled cooling periods under the stated operating conditions.

At the maximum 200 PSI operating pressure, the duty cycle is rated at 50%.

Oil-Free Compressor Design

The compressor uses an oil-free design, removing the need for routine compressor oil changes and providing greater flexibility when selecting a mounting position.

This is particularly useful in automotive applications where available installation space can be limited.

Remote Air Inlet & Filter

The compressor includes the option to remotely mount the air inlet and filter using the supplied accessories.

This is useful for under-bonnet and off-road installations because the air intake can be positioned in a cleaner, drier location away from direct exposure to dust, spray and potential water ingress.

Where the compressor may be exposed to water or spray, position the remote air intake in a clean, dry and protected location.

Onboard Air Tank Systems

For more capable onboard air installations, the compressor can be connected to an air receiver tank.

The compressor fills the tank and a pressure switch can then automatically cycle the compressor on and off to maintain the desired tank pressure.

An air receiver provides stored compressed air which can improve short-duration airflow performance for applications such as:

• Air horns
• Air suspension
• Air lockers
• Short-duration use of compatible pneumatic tools

The suitability of pneumatic tools depends on the tool's air consumption and the size of the receiver tank.

Optional 9.5L Air Tank

A 9.5L steel air receiver is available for customers building a complete onboard air system.

Optional 4WD Onboard Air Kit

For customers wanting to build a more complete onboard air system, an optional compressor and tank package is available with a range of commonly required fittings and components.

The kit combines the 200 PSI compressor with a 9.5L air tank, automatic pressure control and a selection of installation hardware.

Note: The kit contains many of the common components required for installation, however additional wiring, fittings, hose or mounting hardware may still be required depending on the vehicle and intended system layout.

Electrical Installation

Each compressor is supplied with a short electrical wiring tail at the motor.

For a basic installation, the compressor is connected to the vehicle's battery through correctly sized wiring and suitable circuit protection. A switch can then be incorporated to control compressor operation.

For an automatic onboard air system, the compressor can be wired through a suitably rated relay and pressure switch so it cycles on and off automatically to maintain receiver tank pressure.

Important: High-current 12V and 24V installations require correctly sized cabling, fusing, switching and connections. Wiring should be designed for the compressor's current demand and cable length.
