Description

The Paddock Disc Harrow is a heavy duty tow-behind implement designed for ATVs, quad bikes, side-by-sides, small tractors and utilities. With an offset disc arrangement, adjustable working height and a robust steel frame, it is ideal for breaking up soil, preparing seed beds, incorporating fertiliser and organic matter, controlling weeds and working previously cultivated ground.

With a working width of approximately 900mm and a total weight of around 105kg, the harrow provides useful downforce while remaining practical for smaller towing vehicles.

Disc Harrow Applications

The Paddock disc harrow is a versatile property and acreage implement suited to a wide range of soil preparation tasks.

Typical applications include:

  • Preparing seed beds
  • Breaking up compacted or previously cultivated soil
  • Mixing fertiliser, lime and gypsum into the soil
  • Incorporating crop residue and organic matter
  • Breaking up soil clods
  • Light weed control
  • Preparing food plots
  • Working vegetable gardens
  • Renovating paddocks and small fields

Offset Disc Design

The discs are arranged in opposing front and rear gangs, creating an offset cutting action as the implement moves through the soil.

This configuration helps cut, turn and mix the soil rather than simply following the same track. The result is more effective soil disturbance and improved single-pass performance compared with a straight disc arrangement.

Best Operating Conditions

Disc harrows generally perform best in damp or previously worked soil, where the discs can penetrate more easily.

Very dry, hard or heavily compacted ground may require:

  • Multiple passes
  • Additional weight on the harrow
  • Pre-watering or operation after rainfall
  • Initial cultivation with a heavier implement

The standard weight of approximately 105kg provides useful downforce, while the frame design allows additional ballast to be added where required.

Adjustable Working Depth

The disc height can be adjusted using the integrated winding handle. This allows the operator to vary the working depth and raise the discs for transport.

Maximum cutting depth is approximately 4" / 100mm, although actual penetration will depend on soil condition, towing speed, ballast and ground moisture.

Adjustable Tow Hitch Height

The tow hitch height can be adjusted to suit different towing vehicles and help keep the harrow operating at the correct angle.

A standard 2" tow ball hitch is fitted, making the unit compatible with many ATVs, quad bikes, side-by-sides, small tractors and utilities.

Heavy Duty Construction

The Paddock disc harrow is built around a strong box-section steel frame designed for repeated use on farms, acreages and rural properties.

Construction features include:

  • 50mm x 50mm box-section steel frame
  • Approx. 4mm wall thickness
  • 25mm diameter solid high-carbon steel axles
  • 10 heavy duty notched discs
  • Pneumatic transport tyres

The robust frame and axle design provide the strength required for soil-working applications where significant shock and vibration can occur.

14" Notched Discs

The harrow uses 10 x 14" diamond-notched discs arranged across the front and rear disc gangs.

The notched design helps the discs bite into the soil and cut through light vegetation, roots and crop residue while turning and mixing the upper soil layer.

Transport Wheels

The pneumatic wheels allow the discs to be lifted clear of the ground for transport and positioning.

The tyres are a common agricultural-style size, making replacement tubes and tyres relatively easy to source if required.

Power Requirements

A minimum towing vehicle size of approximately 16HP or 250cc is recommended.

Actual towing requirements will depend on:

  • Soil type and moisture
  • Working depth
  • Additional ballast
  • Terrain
  • Towing speed

Harder ground and deeper cultivation will require greater traction and towing power.

Important Operating Notes

Soil conditions: Best penetration is generally achieved in damp or previously cultivated soils.

Ballast: Additional weight may improve penetration in firmer ground, but the towing vehicle's capacity and the harrow frame limits must always be respected.

Towing: Operate at a sensible low speed and avoid sharp turns while the discs are deeply engaged in the soil.

Inspection: Check fasteners, discs, wheel condition and hitch components regularly, particularly during the first few hours of use.

Good little unit

Brought this after looking at it online for a while. A little skeptical about its ability as it doesn’t have much weight. I added about another 50kg to the back of it and it works great! Good little unit.

i said I'd leave a review for these guys thanks to the great service. The harrow does what it says, I've added additional weight to mine to help it dig in, the quad still pulls it fine, very manageable on my small property, happy with the purchase
