Bag Filter Housing (Stainless Steel)
Description
The Scintex Stainless Steel Bag Filter Housing range provides a high-flow, economical solution for filtering liquids including diesel, biodiesel, oils, water and other compatible fluids. Available in standard industrial bag sizes O1, O2, O3 and O4, these housings use large-surface-area filter bags to capture particulate efficiently while reducing the frequency of filter changes.
Constructed from 304 stainless steel and supplied with an internal filter bag support basket, adjustable legs and a top vent port, the housings are suitable for workshop, agricultural, industrial and bulk fluid filtration applications.

High-Capacity Bag Filtration
Bag filters are one of the simplest and most economical ways to remove suspended particulate from larger volumes of liquid. Compared with smaller cartridge-style filters, the large surface area of a filter bag allows greater solids holding capacity and can reduce how frequently the filtration media needs to be replaced.
Scintex supplies filter bags across a broad range of micron ratings, allowing the housing to be configured for coarse pre-filtration through to much finer particulate removal.
Standard Industrial Filter Bag Sizes
The stainless steel housings are designed around common industrial filter bag sizes, making replacement bags easy to source and allowing the filtration level to be changed without replacing the housing.
Available sizes include:
- O1: 7" x 17"
- O2: 7" x 32"
- O3: 4" x 8"
- O4: 4" x 14"
Suitable Fluids
The 304 stainless steel housing provides broad compatibility for many common industrial and workshop fluids. Typical applications may include:
- Diesel
- Biodiesel
- Lubricating oils
- Vegetable oils
- Coolant
- Water
- Methanol
- Selected fuels and solvents
Important: Fluid compatibility depends on all wetted materials, including the housing, O-ring, filter bag and any connected fittings. Always confirm chemical compatibility before use, particularly with petrol, methanol, solvents or aggressive chemicals.
Simple Top-Entry Flow Design
Liquid enters through the upper side inlet and flows through the filter bag before exiting from the bottom of the housing.
The internal support basket prevents the filter bag from collapsing under differential pressure and helps maintain effective filtration across the available bag surface area.
Clamp-Ring Lid & Top Vent Port
A clamp-ring lid provides straightforward access when replacing or inspecting the filter bag.
Each housing also incorporates a 1/4" BSP female port in the top of the lid. This can be used for an air bleed valve or pressure gauge, or plugged when not required.
Adjustable Leg Height
The support legs can be adjusted vertically to provide additional clearance beneath the bottom outlet. This is useful when installing valves, hose fittings, pipework or other accessories below the housing.
Each leg also includes a mounting foot with a fixing hole for permanent installation.

Compatible Filter Bags
Scintex supplies both polypropylene felt and nylon mesh filter bags in a wide range of micron ratings to suit different filtration requirements.

Choosing a Filter Bag Micron Rating
Scintex can supply filter bags ranging from approximately 1 micron through to 500 micron. The best micron rating depends on the liquid, contamination level, required final cleanliness and acceptable pressure drop.
For heavily contaminated fluids, staged filtration can be beneficial. A coarser filter bag can be used first to remove larger particles before filtering through a finer bag.
Note: Actual flow rate will depend on the liquid viscosity, filter bag micron rating, contamination level, pressure differential and system pipework. The listed flow rates should be treated as indicative maximum values rather than guaranteed flow under all operating conditions.
