240V Immersion Heater Element – 800W / 1600W / 2400W, 2" BSP
Description
The 240V Immersion Heater Element is a low heat-density heating element designed for custom tanks, drums and liquid heating systems. Featuring a 2" BSP fitting and three 800W heating elements, the unit can be configured for 800W, 1600W or 2400W operation to suit the application.
The low heat-density design makes the element particularly useful for heating temperature-sensitive liquids and materials such as vegetable oils, biodiesel, waxes, fats, honey, heavy oils and water.
A built-in dip tube provides a convenient location for installing a compatible temperature probe or thermocouple as part of a suitable temperature control system.
240V Low Heat-Density Immersion Heater Element
This bare immersion heater element provides a practical solution for custom liquid heating systems, process tanks and drums. Its 2" BSP threaded fitting allows installation into compatible vessels, including many common 205L drums fitted with a suitable threaded port.
Key Features
- 240V AC, 50Hz
- Maximum heating output of 2400W
- Three 800W heating elements
- Can be configured for 800W, 1600W or 2400W operation
- Low heat density – 31kW/m² (20W/in²)
- 2" BSP threaded fitting
- Incoloy wetted sheath material
- 523mm overall length from base of flange
- 473mm active heated length
- Integrated dip tube for compatible temperature probes
- Suitable for a range of compatible non-flammable liquids and materials
- Supplied as a bare heating element
Low Heat-Density Heating
The element is specifically designed with a low surface heat density. Rather than concentrating the heating power over a small surface area, the element distributes its output across a larger heated area.
This helps reduce localised overheating of the material immediately surrounding the element and makes it particularly useful for applications involving temperature-sensitive or higher-viscosity materials.
Low heat-density heating can be beneficial when working with vegetable oils and biodiesel, where excessive localised temperatures can contribute to degradation of the material.
800W, 1600W or 2400W Configuration
The heater assembly incorporates three 800W elements connected in parallel. This allows the system to be electrically configured for:
- 800W – one element
- 1600W – two elements
- 2400W – all three elements
This provides flexibility when designing a heating system where different heating outputs may be required.
Electrical configuration and installation must be carried out by a suitably licensed electrician.
Integrated Temperature Probe Dip Tube
The heater incorporates a dip tube suitable for installing a compatible thermocouple or temperature probe.
This allows the heater to be incorporated into a properly designed temperature monitoring and control system where automatic regulation of the liquid temperature is required.
A temperature controller or temperature probe is not stated as being included with the bare heating element.
Typical Applications
The heater may be suitable for compatible non-flammable materials including:
- Vegetable oils
- Biodiesel
- Heavy oils
- Engine oils
- Waxes
- Beeswax
- Fats
- Honey
- Water
- Other compatible non-flammable liquids and materials
Always confirm that the sheath material, operating temperature and heating method are suitable for the material being heated.
2" BSP Drum & Tank Connection
The immersion heater is supplied with a 2" BSP threaded fitting, allowing it to screw into compatible threaded tank and drum ports.
For custom vessels, a suitable 2" BSP threaded fitting can be incorporated into the vessel to accept the heater element. Vessel modifications and installation must be appropriate for the material being heated, operating temperature and intended application.

Important Installation & Operating Information
- The heating elements must remain submerged in a compatible liquid during operation. Operating the elements dry can cause overheating and permanent damage.
- Supplied as a bare heating element requiring appropriate electrical installation and control equipment.
- Installation and electrical configuration should be carried out by a suitably licensed electrician.
- The complete heating system should incorporate appropriate temperature control and electrical protection for the application.
- Ensure the vessel, fittings and seals are suitable for the operating temperature and material being heated.
- Do not use for flammable liquids or in hazardous atmospheres unless the complete installation and equipment are specifically approved for that application.
