Description

The Scintex High Flow 12V Diaphragm Water Pump is designed for applications requiring strong flow from a compact DC pump. Delivering up to 26 L/min and pressures up to 60 PSI, it is well suited to farming, water transfer, irrigation, RVs, caravans, marine installations and other high-demand water systems.

The pump features a 5-chamber diaphragm design, a genuine Honeywell pressure switch and upgraded Viton and Santoprene wetted components for improved durability across a broad range of compatible fluids.

12V High Flow Diaphragm Water Pump - 26 L/min

  • Up to 26 L/min flow rate
  • Adjustable pressure up to 60 PSI / 413 kPa
  • 12V DC operation
  • 5-chamber diaphragm pump design
  • Self-priming to approximately 1.8m
  • Genuine Honeywell adjustable pressure switch
  • Viton and Santoprene wetted components
  • Thermally protected permanent magnet motor
  • Rubber isolation feet for quieter operation
  • Suitable for fresh water, salt water and selected compatible agricultural solutions
  • 12 month warranty

High Flow for Demanding Water Systems

This pump uses a larger motor and pump chamber than many conventional compact diaphragm pumps, allowing it to deliver flow rates up to approximately 26 L/min.

This makes it suitable for applications such as:

  • Water transfer
  • Farm and agricultural systems
  • Irrigation and spraying
  • RV and caravan water systems
  • Marine and boat installations
  • Wash-down systems
  • Remote water supply
  • Compatible pesticide and fertiliser transfer

5-Chamber Diaphragm Pump Design

The 5-chamber design helps produce a smoother discharge than many lower-chamber diaphragm pumps.

Benefits include:

  • Good suction performance
  • High flow capability
  • Strong discharge pressure
  • Smoother water delivery
  • Reduced pulsation
  • Quieter operation

The pump is also capable of running dry for limited periods without immediate damage, although extended dry running should be avoided wherever practical.

Automatic On-Demand Operation

A genuine Honeywell pressure switch is integrated into the discharge side of the pump.

In an on-demand water system, the pump automatically starts when a tap, nozzle or valve is opened and the outlet pressure falls. When the outlet is closed and pressure rises to the set point, the pressure switch stops the pump.

This makes the pump suitable for pressure-controlled systems such as:

  • Showers
  • Taps
  • Wash-down hoses
  • Spray systems
  • Remote water outlets

Adjustable Pressure Switch

The pressure switch can be adjusted where a lower shut-off pressure is required for a particular installation.

The maximum pressure setting is approximately 60 PSI / 413 kPa, equivalent to roughly 41m of water head before allowing for pipe friction and other system losses.

Pressure adjustment should be performed carefully and the pump should not be operated above its rated limits.

Viton & Santoprene Wetted Components

The pump uses a combination of polypropylene, Viton and Santoprene in its wetted components.

These materials provide improved chemical resistance compared with many standard water pumps and can make the pump suitable for selected:

  • Fertilisers
  • Herbicides
  • Pesticides
  • Agricultural spraying solutions
  • Salt water

Always confirm chemical compatibility before use. Compatibility varies between formulations, concentrations and temperatures.

Marine & Harsh Environment Design

The pump features a seamless motor shell and O-ring sealed end cap arrangement designed to improve resistance to moisture and harsh operating environments.

This makes it suitable for applications around:

  • Boats
  • Marine wash-down systems
  • Caravans
  • Remote properties
  • Agricultural equipment

For long-term marine use, good installation practice remains important. Electrical connections should be protected from corrosion and the pump should be mounted where it is not continuously exposed to direct water ingress.

Match the Pump to Your Plumbing

This is a high-flow pump and the downstream system must be able to accept the flow it produces.

A common installation problem is fitting a large pump to undersized pipework, restrictive fittings or a small spray nozzle.

If the system cannot pass close to the pump's available flow rate, pressure can rise rapidly to the pressure-switch setting. The pump then stops, pressure falls, and the pump restarts. This repeated on/off behaviour is known as rapid cycling.

Frequent cycling can generate heat and significantly reduce pressure-switch life.

How to Reduce Pump Cycling

For best performance:

  • Use pipe or hose at least as large as the pump connections
  • Avoid unnecessary restrictions and undersized fittings
  • Use nozzles capable of passing the required flow
  • Keep suction hose short and adequately sized
  • Minimise tight bends and restrictive valves
  • Consider an accumulator tank where demand varies significantly

If your application only requires a few litres per minute, a smaller pump may be a better choice than restricting a 26 L/min pump.

Electrical Installation

Maximum current draw is approximately 20A, so adequately sized wiring and suitable circuit protection should be used.

Voltage drop in undersized cables can reduce pump performance and increase motor heating, particularly where the battery or power source is located a significant distance from the pump.

Important Operating Notes

System sizing: Ensure the hose, pipework, valves and nozzles can accommodate the pump's high flow rate.

Pressure switch cycling: Rapid on/off cycling indicates excessive downstream restriction or demand substantially below the pump's available flow.

Chemical compatibility: Confirm compatibility of all wetted materials with the intended chemical before use.

Dry running: The diaphragm design tolerates dry running better than many pump types, but unnecessary extended dry operation should still be avoided.

Electrical supply: Use appropriately sized 12V cabling, connections and circuit protection suitable for the approximately 20A maximum current demand.
