Heavy Duty Concrete Surface Preparation
Concrete scarifiers are designed to remove material by rotating a cutter-equipped drum at high speed across the working surface. This makes them ideal for surface preparation, removing coatings, reducing high spots and correcting uneven concrete surfaces.
Paddock™ scarifiers are designed for professional contractors, construction companies, hire businesses and other users requiring a robust machine capable of regular operation. Depending on the cutter and drum configuration, the machines can be used on concrete, asphalt and other suitable hard surfaces.
Petrol or 240V Electric Models
Two 200mm scarifier configurations are available:
- SSM200/1P: Genuine Honda GX160 4-stroke commercial petrol engine
- SSM200/1E: 2.2kW 240V electric motor with 15A plug
The petrol model provides excellent portability for construction sites and outdoor applications where mains power may not be readily available. The electric model is well suited to locations where 240V 15A power is available and petrol engine exhaust emissions are undesirable.
How to Scarify Concrete Floors
For effective and consistent scarifying, multiple shallow passes are generally preferable to attempting to remove a large amount of material in a single pass.
With the petrol model, removal depths of up to approximately 6mm in a pass may be achievable depending on the material, surface hardness, cutter condition and operating conditions. With the single-phase electric model, approximately 2–4mm per pass can be more realistic due to the available motor power.
Maintaining drum speed is important for effective scarifying. If the machine is overloaded or the cutting depth is excessive, reducing the depth and completing additional passes can provide a more consistent result.
Dust Control
Scarifying concrete and similar materials can generate significant amounts of dust. Each Paddock™ scarifier incorporates a dust extraction outlet that can be connected to suitable dust collection equipment to help control airborne dust during operation.
Appropriate personal protective equipment and dust control procedures should always be used for the material being worked.
