Paddock™ Machinery
Paddock™ excavators are designed to offer a strong balance of performance, durability and value. Quality components are selected throughout the machine, while Scintex provides Australian-based product support and spare parts support.
Kubota Diesel Engine
The Series 17 is powered by a genuine Kubota D722, 3-cylinder, water-cooled diesel engine producing 16hp. The engine provides smooth operation, reliable starting and efficient performance for excavation, trenching and attachment work.
Electric key start is standard, and the machine carries a 15L fuel tank.
High Specification Hydraulic System
The hydraulic system is central to the Series 17's performance. The machine uses a Tianji dual-stage hydraulic pump, EATON drive motors and a Luke swing motor to provide smooth travel, digging and swing operation.
The hydraulic system is rated at 40 L/min and 16 MPa, with a 16L hydraulic capacity. Hydraulic joystick controls provide familiar and responsive operation for the main digging and swing functions.
Heavy Duty Excavator Construction
The Paddock™ Series 17 is built using CNC laser-cut steel components for consistent manufacturing accuracy and strength. Grease points are incorporated throughout the pivot areas to simplify routine maintenance, while engine and service access has been designed with ongoing servicing in mind.
Quick Hitch & Auxiliary Hydraulics
A quick hitch is included as standard, allowing compatible attachments to be changed more efficiently without having to repeatedly remove and refit bucket pins.
Auxiliary hydraulics are also included as standard, allowing the excavator to operate compatible hydraulic attachments such as auger drives, rock breakers and grapples.
Boom Swing
Boom swing functionality is included as standard on the current SPEX17SS model. This increases versatility when trenching or excavating close to walls, fences and other obstacles where repositioning the entire machine may be inconvenient.
Paddock™ Excavator Applications
The compact dimensions and hydraulic capability of the Series 17 make it suitable for a wide range of applications including:
- Trenching
- Landscaping
- Drainage and plumbing work
- Electrical service trenches
- Fencing and post-hole augering
- Material handling
- Rock breaking
- Vegetation and property maintenance
- General excavation work
Excavator Attachments & Accessories
The Series 17 uses a quick hitch system and can be fitted with a range of optional attachments to increase the machine's versatility.
Each machine is supplied with a 400mm toothed bucket as standard.
Buckets for Trenching & Material Handling
The recommended bucket range for the Series 17 includes 200mm, 400mm and 600mm buckets. The 400mm toothed bucket is included with the machine.
The 200mm bucket is well suited to narrow trenching applications, while the 600mm bucket provides greater capacity for lighter bulk material handling. Paddock recommends not exceeding a 600mm bucket on the Series 17.
Ripper Attachment
The optional ripper attachment is designed for loosening hard ground and breaking through roots. Heavy steel construction and a hardened ripper tip make it suitable for demanding ground preparation work.
Augers for Digging Holes
The standard auger drive can operate augers up to 300mm in diameter in most ground conditions.
For larger augers or harder ground, the Series 15 Reducer Auger Drive is also compatible with the Series 17. This configuration operates at a lower speed while producing greater torque, making it better suited to larger diameter augers and more demanding drilling conditions.
Rock Breaker
A hydraulic rock breaker can be connected through the auxiliary hydraulic system for breaking rock, old concrete, paths and other hard materials into more manageable sections.
Actuating Grapple
The grapple attachment allows logs, rocks, branches and other objects to be gripped, lifted and repositioned. Unlike quick-hitch bucket attachments, fitting the actuating grapple requires connection to the excavator's hydraulic ram and associated pins.
Excavator Rake
The rake attachment is useful for vegetation management, forestry work and gathering green waste such as branches, scrub and lantana.

Excavator Service & Maintenance
The Paddock™ Series 17 is designed for straightforward routine maintenance. Engine oil, hydraulic fluid and other service items should be checked and replaced at the intervals specified in the operating manual.
Grease nipples are located throughout the machine's pivot points and should be included in regular pre-start and maintenance checks to help maximise component life.
