Description

Break new ground and prepare garden beds with the Paddock™ Rear Tine Tiller. Powered by a 208cc Briggs & Stratton petrol engine, this heavy-duty cultivator combines a 400mm / 16" working width with aggressive 250mm / 10" counter-rotating rear tines to penetrate and turn compacted soil.

Unlike lighter front-tine cultivators, the rear-mounted tine configuration provides excellent soil penetration while the driven agricultural tyres help propel the machine forward. With forward and reverse gears, a durable cast iron transmission housing and belt-and-worm-gear drive, the Paddock™ Rear Tine Tiller is built for demanding garden, landscaping and property maintenance applications.

Heavy-Duty Rear Tine Cultivator

The Paddock™ Rear Tine Tiller is designed for more demanding soil preparation than a lightweight garden cultivator.

With the engine and driven wheels positioned ahead of the cutting assembly, the rear-mounted tines can work aggressively into the ground while the machine maintains forward traction.

This makes the tiller particularly useful when establishing new garden areas or working soil that has become hard and compacted.

400mm / 16" Tilling Width

A 400mm / 16" maximum working width provides an excellent balance between productivity and manoeuvrability.

The machine can efficiently cultivate larger garden beds and landscaping areas while remaining narrow enough to work through areas where a tractor-mounted rotary hoe may be impractical.

250mm Counter-Rotating Steel Tines

Four heavy-duty 250mm / 10" steel tines are positioned at the rear of the machine and rotate in the opposite direction to forward travel.

This counter-rotating action helps the tines bite aggressively into the ground rather than simply travelling across the surface, improving penetration when breaking hard or previously uncultivated soil.

The tiller can work to a maximum depth of approximately 150mm / 6", depending on soil conditions and operating technique.

Designed to Break New Ground

The counter-rotating rear tine configuration makes this machine particularly well suited to heavier cultivation tasks.

Typical applications include:

  • Establishing new garden beds
  • Breaking previously uncultivated ground
  • Turning compacted soil
  • Preparing vegetable gardens
  • Mixing soil amendments and compost
  • Landscaping preparation
  • Acreage and property maintenance
  • Preparing soil before planting or turf installation

208cc Briggs & Stratton Engine

The tiller is powered by a Briggs & Stratton 130G 208cc OHV petrol engine producing approximately 6.5hp.

The engine provides the power required to drive both the machine and counter-rotating tine assembly through demanding soil conditions.

A manual recoil starting system provides simple, reliable operation without requiring a starting battery.

Belt & Worm Gear Transmission

Power is transferred through a heavy-duty belt and worm gear transmission housed within a durable cast iron casing.

This robust drive arrangement is designed to handle the substantial loads generated when the counter-rotating tines engage compacted ground.

Forward & Reverse Drive

The Paddock™ Rear Tine Tiller features 1 forward and 1 reverse speed.

Powered forward travel reduces the physical effort required to move the machine through the work area, while reverse provides greater control when repositioning the tiller or working in confined areas.

13" Agricultural Tyres

Large 13" agricultural tread tyres provide traction as the machine works through loose and uneven soil.

The aggressive tread pattern helps maintain forward movement while the rear tines work against the ground, providing greater control than small transport-style wheels.

Rear Tine vs Front Tine Cultivators

A rear tine tiller is particularly useful when working hard, compacted or previously uncultivated ground. The driven wheels move the machine while the counter-rotating tines work aggressively into the soil behind them.

For lighter work such as regularly turning loose garden soil, a smaller cultivator may be sufficient. For establishing new beds and tackling more demanding soil conditions, the additional weight, traction and counter-rotating action of a rear tine machine can provide a significant advantage.

Getting the Best Tilling Performance

Soil conditions have a significant impact on tilling performance. Extremely dry, hard ground can be difficult to penetrate, while heavily saturated soil can clog the tines and produce poor results.

For heavily compacted areas, multiple passes may provide a better result than attempting to achieve maximum depth in a single pass. Remove large rocks, wire, roots and other foreign objects from the work area before operation.

Important Safety Information

Rotary tiller tines can cause serious injury. Keep hands, feet and clothing clear of the tine area whenever the engine is running and ensure all guards and shields are correctly installed before operation.

Before clearing tangled material, inspecting the tines or performing maintenance, stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug lead and wait for all moving components to completely stop.

Exercise additional care when operating on slopes, uneven ground or near obstacles. Never allow bystanders, children or animals within the immediate operating area.
