Description

The Tsurumi Sand and Slurry Submersible Pump range is built for demanding dewatering applications where ordinary clean-water pumps struggle. Designed in Japan for professional and contractor use, these pumps are ideal for handling water containing sand, silt, sediment and suspended solids.

Available in the Tsurumi HS/HSZ dirty water series and more abrasion-resistant HSD slurry series, these rugged 240V pumps are well suited to construction sites, excavations, stormwater pits, basements, industrial sites and general site dewatering.

Professional Contractor Dewatering Pumps

Tsurumi pumps have an established reputation in construction, industrial and dewatering applications where reliability is critical. Often referred to as contractor pumps, the HS, HSZ and HSD series are specifically designed to operate in difficult environments containing sand, silt and other suspended material.

Unlike a conventional clean-water pump, these models incorporate features specifically intended to improve performance and service life when pumping dirty and abrasive water.

Applications include:

  • Construction site dewatering
  • Excavations and trenches
  • Stormwater pits
  • Basements
  • Footings and foundations
  • Drainage pits
  • Industrial sites
  • Sand and silt-laden water
  • General dirty water transfer

Tsurumi HS & HSZ Dirty Water Pumps

The Tsurumi HS and HSZ Series feature a spiral pump casing designed to allow sand and silt-laden water to pass through the pump. A shaft-mounted agitator helps stir settled material into suspension so it can be pumped away while also helping prevent air lock.

A semi-vortex urethane rubber impeller provides abrasion resistance while allowing solids up to 7mm to pass through the pump.

The HS range is available in two power and performance sizes:

  • HS(Z)2.4S: 400W, up to 207 L/min and 12.2m head
  • HS(Z)2.75S: 750W, up to 300 L/min and 18m head

Manual or Automatic HSZ Pump Operation

The HS Series can be selected in either manual or automatic float-controlled configurations.

The manual HS models operate when connected to power and are suited to applications where the operator or an external control system manages pump operation.

The automatic HSZ versions incorporate a float switch to provide automatic water level control, making them particularly useful in pits and other applications where water levels rise and fall.

  • HS2.4S: Manual operation
  • HSZ2.4S: Automatic float switch
  • HS2.75S: Manual operation
  • HSZ2.75S: Automatic float switch

Tsurumi HSD Slurry Pump

For more abrasive slurry applications, the Tsurumi HSD2.55S upgrades the wet-end construction with a high-chromium impeller and agitator.

The agitator helps stir settled material and keep solids suspended so they can be drawn into the pump. The high-chromium components provide increased wear resistance when operating with abrasive water containing sand and sediment.

The HSD also uses a robust cast iron casing. This increases pump weight compared with the HS models but provides a particularly durable design for demanding industrial and contractor applications.

  • 550W single phase motor
  • Flow rates up to 220 L/min
  • Maximum discharge head of 13.2m
  • Handles solids up to 10mm
  • High-chromium impeller and agitator
  • 50mm / 2" side discharge
  • Manual operation

Agitator for Sand & Sediment

A key feature of these pumps is the shaft-mounted agitator. When operating in water containing settled sand or silt, the agitator helps disturb the material surrounding the pump and bring it into suspension.

This allows sediment to be carried with the water through the pump rather than simply remaining settled around the pump inlet.

Built for Demanding Site Conditions

Tsurumi incorporates several features intended to improve pump reliability and operating life in tough dewatering environments.

Anti-wicking cable entry: Tsurumi's cable entry design helps prevent water travelling internally along the power cable towards the motor.

Dual silicon carbide mechanical seals: Durable SiC mechanical seals provide protection for the motor and are well suited to demanding pumping environments.

Thermal motor protection: Integrated motor protection helps protect the pump against damaging operating conditions.

Continuous operation: The motors are rated for continuous duty when correctly submerged and operated within their specified conditions.

Which Tsurumi Pump Should I Choose?

HS2.4S / HSZ2.4S: A compact 400W option for general construction dewatering, pits and dirty water applications where moderate flow and head are required.

HS2.75S / HSZ2.75S: The higher performance 750W option, delivering up to 300 L/min and 18m maximum head. Select this model where greater flow or discharge head is required.

HSD2.55S: Best suited to more abrasive sand and slurry applications where the high-chromium impeller and agitator provide additional wear resistance.

Serviceable Pumps with Australian Spare Parts Support

Tsurumi pumps are designed to be serviceable rather than disposable. Replacement and service parts are available in Australia, helping make these pumps a strong choice for professional users where equipment downtime matters.

The straightforward construction also allows the pumps to be disassembled and maintained when servicing is required.

Important Pump Selection Information

Maximum flow and maximum head are separate operating points. A pump will not deliver its maximum advertised flow rate at its maximum discharge head. Actual performance will depend on elevation, hose length, hose diameter, fittings and other system restrictions.

Do not allow the pump to run dry. These pumps rely on correct submersion and operating conditions for cooling and long service life.

Solids handling: The HS/HSZ models are rated for solids up to 7mm, while the HSD2.55S is rated for solids up to 10mm. Always consider the concentration and abrasiveness of the material being pumped as well as particle size when selecting a pump.

Submersible drainage pumps

I've hired these submersible pumps for years through Kennards. Finally purchased one from Scintex. Best pumps for this type of dirty water drainage and construction work I've seen. Believe they are made in Japan.
