Sherpa 4x4 Snatch Block – 10,000kg Rated Capacity
Description
The Sherpa 4x4 Snatch Block is a heavy-duty winch recovery accessory with a stated 10,000kg (22,045lb) rated capacity. Designed for compatible steel cable and synthetic winch rope from 5/16" to 1/2", it can be used to create double-line pulls or redirect the winch line when a straight pull isn't practical.
Its opening scissor-style side plates allow the snatch block to be fitted to the winch line without feeding the entire rope or cable through the pulley.
Sherpa 4x4 10 Tonne Snatch Block
A snatch block provides greater flexibility when setting up a vehicle recovery. Depending on the rigging configuration, it can be used to increase the mechanical advantage of the winch or redirect the winch line to achieve a more suitable pulling direction.
The Sherpa 4x4 Snatch Block features heavy-duty construction, opening side plates and a greaseable pulley spindle for ongoing maintenance.

Double-Line Winch Pulls
A snatch block can be used to configure a double-line winch pull, providing additional mechanical advantage where greater pulling force is required.
In an ideal double-line arrangement, the mechanical advantage can approach 2:1. Actual performance will be lower due to friction and will depend on the recovery setup, winch, line angles and other factors.
Using a snatch block also changes the loads applied throughout the recovery system, so all recovery points, shackles, winch rope and other components must be suitable for the loads involved.
Redirect Your Winch Line
A snatch block can also be used as a change-of-direction pulley where the most suitable anchor point isn't directly in line with the vehicle.
This provides greater flexibility when recovering around obstacles or when positioning the vehicle and anchor point for a more controlled winching direction.
Opening Side Plate Design
The scissor-style opening side plates allow the snatch block to be fitted around the winch rope or cable without having to feed the complete length of line through the pulley.
Once the line is correctly positioned in the pulley groove, the side plates close around the rope or cable ready for connection to suitable rated recovery equipment.
Steel Cable & Synthetic Rope Compatible
The Sherpa 4x4 Snatch Block is designed for use with compatible 5/16" to 1/2" steel cable or synthetic winch rope.
When using synthetic rope, ensure the pulley and side plates are clean, smooth and free from burrs or damage. Care should also be taken to ensure the rope remains correctly seated in the pulley groove and is not pinched between the pulley and side plate.
Greaseable Pulley Spindle
An integrated grease nipple allows the pulley spindle to be lubricated as part of routine maintenance.
After recovery use, particularly in mud, sand or water, clean and inspect the snatch block and ensure the pulley rotates correctly before storage.

Recovery Safety
Vehicle recovery equipment can be subjected to very high loads. Ensure the winch, rope or cable, snatch block, shackles, recovery points and anchor system are suitable for the intended recovery and correctly configured before winching.
Inspect the snatch block before use for wear, deformation, cracks, damaged side plates or pulley damage. Do not use damaged recovery equipment.
Keep people clear of the winch line and recovery area while the system is under load.
