Description
Reusable nylon monofilament mesh filter bags provide a simple and cost-effective solution for removing particulate contamination from liquids. Available in nominal ratings from 10 to 500 micron, these filter bags are suitable for use with compatible filter housings or in suitable gravity filtration applications.
Nylon Monofilament Mesh Filter Bags
Monofilament mesh filter bags use individually woven nylon filaments to create a consistent mesh structure with defined openings. Unlike felt filter media, the monofilament construction does not rely on a fibrous depth structure, making the bags particularly useful where surface filtration, easy cleaning and larger particulate loading are required.
Available in two common industry bag sizes and five nominal micron ratings, these bags can be used for filtration of compatible fuels, oils, water and other suitable liquids.

10 to 500 Micron Filtration Options
Choose the micron rating according to the size of particulate that needs to be removed and the required flow characteristics:
- 10 micron – fine filtration
- 50 micron – fine to medium particulate filtration
- 100 micron – general particulate filtration
- 300 micron – coarse filtration
- 500 micron – coarse screening and larger particulate removal
Note: The stated micron sizes are nominal ratings. Filter selection should be based on the requirements of the particular liquid, process and downstream equipment.
Monofilament Mesh Construction
Each strand within the filter media is formed from a single nylon filament. The woven construction creates consistently spaced mesh openings while avoiding the loose fibres associated with some fibrous filter media.
The monofilament construction also provides good mechanical strength and allows the mesh to be cleaned and reused in suitable applications.
Filter Housing or Gravity Filtration
These bags are designed for installation in compatible liquid filter bag housings, where the housing supports the bag as fluid passes through the filter media.
They may also be used for suitable low-pressure or gravity filtration applications where the bag is correctly supported and the liquid is compatible with the nylon filter media.
For pressurised filtration, always use an appropriately rated filter housing and ensure the bag size, sealing arrangement and operating conditions are suitable for the installation.

Choosing a Filter Bag
When selecting a filter bag, consider both the required micron rating and bag size. Finer mesh generally provides greater particulate retention but may result in a higher pressure drop or require more frequent cleaning when contamination levels are high.
The larger Size 02 bag provides greater filtration area than the Size 01 bag, which can be beneficial where higher flow rates or greater particulate holding capacity are required.
Cleaning & Reuse
The nylon monofilament construction can be cleaned and reused in suitable applications. Whether reuse is appropriate will depend on the filtered liquid, contamination type, cleaning method and condition of the filter media.
Inspect the mesh and seams before reuse. Replace the bag if the mesh is damaged, stretched, torn or otherwise unable to provide the required filtration.
Important Compatibility Information
Nylon is compatible with many commonly filtered liquids; however, no single filter material is suitable for every chemical or operating environment. Confirm material compatibility before filtering solvents, fuels, chemicals or liquids at elevated temperatures.
