Buying a snorkel can be a daunting task. There are so many options and so many differing advantages to the various brands available. So what do you really need to think about when you are buying a snorkel.

1) Quality of the snorkel

While snorkels may all look black and plastic they are not all the same. The additives and how the Linear Low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) is mixed is important to the final quality of the snorkel.

2) How dirty do you get?

What you are going to do with your snorkel can determine which head you should use and therefore purchase. There are a number of types of heads to consider, all with there own benefits.

Air Ram - This is the most common head and is usually the best option for most people.

Pre-Cleaner - This head offers an extra layer of protection for particularly dusty travel.

A snorkel relocates the engine air intake to a higher position, helping reduce dust ingestion and providing additional protection during water crossings when used correctly.
Most owners install snorkels for engine protection rather than performance. Any performance changes depend on the complete intake system and vehicle.
No. Safe water depth depends on many factors including vehicle electronics, breathers and sealing of the intake system. A snorkel alone does not make a vehicle waterproof.
By drawing cleaner air from roof height, snorkels can reduce dust entering the intake in convoy conditions compared with low-mounted factory intakes.
Yes. Correct installation and sealing are essential. Air leaks between the snorkel and airbox reduce the benefits and may allow water or dust into the intake.

Highly recommended .We have a few of these as we are a oil manufacturer . These pumps are very good and reliable. I have had nuts , bolts and rocks go through them and they keep on working as the viens and gears are all steel . No plastic that can shatter .Only had to replace a mechanical seal on them once which I was able to get from Scintex . Takes about 7 minutes to transfer 200 liters of gear oil through a 25 mm hose .
