View full detailsDiesel Exhaust Fluids (DEF) such as AdBlue and AUS 32 are urea based fuel additives aimed at reducing nitrous oxide emissions from diesel engines. Such additives have been gaining in popularity in Australia as emissions standards tighten particularly in the trucking and heavy machinery industries. The AdBlue is not added to the fuel tank like other additives but has its own AdBlue tank on selective catalytic reduction (SCR) equipped vehicles. The AdBlue is injected into the exhaust gas stream where it acts to reduce vehicle emissions. As a rule of thumb the consumption of AdBlue is 4-6% of total diesel fuel consumption.

AdBlue or diesel exhaust fluids come under standard ISO22241 which governs the constituents, mix and quality. The primary ingredient is urea, chemically (NH2)2CO, and is present as 32.5% of the final solution. However, the Adblue standard allows for 31.8 to 33.2% urea mix. The remainder is deionized water with very limited trace elements. This mix is chosen as a ~30% urea mix gives a low crystalisation point of -11oC
How does AdBlue reduce NOx emissions? AdBlue is introduced to the exhaust gases within the exhaust system for SCR vehicles. Due to the high temperatures the ~68% water is turned into steam and discharged along with the exhaust gases. The urea is thermally degraded to form ammonia and isocyanic acid via the follow chemical formula:
Urea (NH2)2CO + Heat = Ammonia (NH3) + Isocyanic acid (HNCO)
The isocyanic acid undergoes further chemical reduction to Ammonia and water as per the following chemical equation:
Isocyanic acid (HNCO) + Water (H2O) = Carbon dioxide (CO2) + Ammonia (NH3)
These reduction reactions ultimately provide ammonia to the hot exhaust gas stream where it can act to reduce NOx emissions. Ammonia reacts with the NOx and oxygen to form Nitrogen gas (N2) and water.
Using the example of Nitrogen monoxide or Nitric Oxide (NO) the total reaction is as follows:
2x Ammonia (NH2)2CO + 4 Nitrogen Monoxide NO + Oxygen O2 → 4x Nitrogen N2 + 4x Water H2O + 2x Carbon Dioxide CO2
While many reactions occur in this reduction process the end result is the NOx is turned into elemental Nitrogen, which is plentiful in the atmosphere and harmless, and water.
AdBlue or DEF, being urea based requires specialized equipment for liquids handling and transfer. Urea and carbamates are corrosive to many metals, especially aluminium, and even low grade stainless steels. For transfer and storage of AdBlue high grade polyethylenes are recommend with EPDM or similar hosing along with Viton or other chemically sound seals. Scintex has years of experience with fluids transfer and has many pumping and flow meter solutions designed specifically for AdBlue and diesel exhaust fluids.
Scintex supplies a range of pumps for the transfer of AdBlue or DEF to your vehicle, truck, machinery or tanks. AdBlue pumps can be supplied in 12V, 24V or 240V and in kit forms with flow meters, hose and nozzles.
Our DC range of 12V and 24V AdBlue Pumps are ideal for transferring DEF fluids in remote locations or whilst on the move. Ideal for vehicles, trucks and machinery. They come supplied with alligator clips so you can connect to a battery or your vehicles battery allowing for ease of transfer. These can be supplied as the pump only or as a kit with nozzles, hosing and fittings.
Our 240V electric AdBlue pumps are suitable for transfer of Diesel Exhaust Fluids (DEF) such as AUS 32 and Urea based fuel additives. An affordable alternative to other costly brands. Being single phase 240 volt, these Adblue pumps lend themselves to depot, warehouse and workshop transfer of Adblue where mains power is available. The 240 Volt pumps are also available in easy mount kits, with optional flow meters, nozzles, hose and fittings. Buying one of our complete kits is an economical means of getting an off the shelf, turnkey solution to Adblue transfer.
Scintex offers a range of AdBlue & DEF Accessories to suit your requirements. Hose reels compatible with DEFs are a convenient, tidy and safe option. Automatic retraction means your hoses won’t be lying around the workshop floor making a trip hazard. Your hoses will also last longer and prevent kinking. Our range of nozzles include manual Adblue nozzles as well as automatic shutoff nozzles compatible with AdBlue. Incorporating an Adblue flow meter will allow you to pump precise amounts into equipment as well as record usages. A simple to use unit with full onsite calibration options.

Very happy with the pump and the very prompt delivery, awesome cheers
My wife and I decided to try the Scintex Immobilizer when our previous toy failed and were both impressed. The size is beginner-friendly yet satisfying, and the silicone feels soft and smooth. The strength dial offers a variety of sensations, making it exciting for both of us. It's easy to use and clean, and the flared base ensures safety during play. It’s simple, yet versatile for everyone.
Five stars, for sure!
The pump is made of quality parts compared to other brands you can fill it in the weight of it. More metal then plastic. I havent used mine yet, due to having to reshedule the job, so I cant comment on the performance side of it. But the customer service that I got from the sale person ( I forgot his name)..!! Was OUTSTANDING. He went out of his way to use another delivery provider and copped the extra cost, just to get the item to me a lot quicker... THANK YOU for that Scintex and I wont hesitate to buy from you again in the future..!
Only used once but looks like it’s going to save lots of work! Sweeps almost everything up impressed so far
Fitted into a clients makeshift septic tank replacing another brand that wasn't fulluy suited to the application. I found this Paddock pump as a better replacement option. Looked like it was a good product, Insalled it about 3 weeks ago & the customer hasn't called back, so it's getting the job done. Hopefully it last a long time in there. Will be my go to pump for this typoe of job.
Great product ,must use only when it’s dry though
As a paraplegic I found it hard to weigh myself accurately on small bath scales. These scales make it easy. Well made and accurate.
Fast and easy
Excellent delivery and very well packaged. I have assembled it but not had time to use it as yet. It looks like it will do the job very well. Staff were very helpful in answering my questions prior to purchase.
Good quality for a reasonable price
This chipper is great. Easy start relatively low noise does as great job on our heavily wooded block. Does everything claimed. Highly recommend
Am very happy with the Paddock Power Sprayer! Great Product.
This review is more for the excellent after supply support I received via email and phone due to a minor issue with the sprayer.
The after sales support team were able to resolve what was a minor isssue promptly and expertly.
Thanks guys
I brought this machine with a little skepticism as to how it might perform but was pleasantly surprised. I have used Ridge k1500's for years while working for other plumbers. This machine has just as much grunt. I pulled out a 3.5 metre horse tail of roots from a storm water drain yesterday. The cables and machine worked hard but got it all out. The cables seem to be as good as the ridge equivalent, some of the heads aren't great but ridged or rothenburger heads fit the cables and you'll also need to buy a ridge mitt/glove, as the one it comes with is useless. If you are after a cost effective drain machine option, definitely worth it. Mine has paid for it self already.
